When you pulled out your electric vehicle after winter and decided to go out and make it happen that strange sounds like creaks or creaking started coming out from under the board. Easy, such sounds do not mean any major fault. It means only that the trucks in your longboard probably have a large layer of dust, which should be removed.
What are trucks?
The truck is an aluminum or metal element of each board (also skateboards). It looks like an upside-down T and has fixed wheels at both ends. The simplest way to explain the principle of operation is an example. If you are riding on your board and you want to turn right then you carry the weight of your whole body on the right edge of the board (depending on whether you are riding on regular or goofy, you carry the weight of your body on your toes or heels). Then the trucks, which are underneath, start to change their position and slightly twist in such a way that the front wheels are set to the right and the rear wheels to the left. So, in simpler terms, they are responsible for torsion in all kinds of boards.
What do the grinds in trucks mean and are they dangerous?
As I mentioned earlier, all kinds of clash and squeaking in trucks is not a sign that our board should be put into service. This is also not dangerous, because it does not cause any problems with twisting, and only we can annoy the sound while driving. However, it should be remembered that prevention is better than cure, so it is worth spending 10-15 minutes at home for purging trucks, because dust is not dangerous, but in the future it can gather so much that it can be hard for them to spin at all.
A homey way to get rid of the unpleasant sound.
Turning trucks up is not a major problem, but we must have the right key for this purpose, which will unscrew the largest bolt in trucks. However, let’s start from the beginning. At the beginning, remember that we have an electric longboard, and thus we try to avoid contact with water. It is necessary to unscrew the trucks from the top and only now to unscrew the largest bolt, and then dismantle all parts remembering in what order it is done. I think you can see where all the dust is. You can wash it with a damp cloth or get rid of it in a different way you know. Especially you need to clean the pivot cup. This is the hole in which the “leg” of the cylindrical metal part enters. In that place probably all the dust collected, which causes crackling while driving. After washing, put the whole truck back into the pile and attach it to the counter. It guarantees you that for the next few weeks you will not hear any unpleasant sound and you will be able to enjoy the ride on your electric longboard by hearing only the chirping of birds in the park and the pleasant noise of your motor.
