Probably some of you already have your electric vehicle, and some are just considering buying. This short guide will help you learn how to treat our electric board so that it will be long-lived.
The battery is the heart of our electric vehicle and in my opinion he should pay the most attention and care for it even when we do not use our board. The first rule is simple and applies not only to batteries in e-longboard engines, but also to our smartphones. For years, it has been said that it is best to unload the batteries to zero and then charge at 100%. Recently I have heard that the battery has the longest lifespan when we unload it to 10-20% and then we charge up to 100%. You can choose the principle that you think is more right, but the most important thing is that the board does not lie in the corner for a long period of time, completely discharged, because it may reduce its capacity, so you will not get the same range as in the new board. The second rule about which to remember when protecting the battery, is to take care that after the trip (especially on rainy days) check that the battery is not wet and wipe the battery cover, because as it is known better to prevent than cure;)
In the second generation of electric boards from Majestic Boards, the manufacturers placed the engine above the deck, which reduces the chances of any mechanical damage or flooding with water. However, after each long trip it is better to check if the engine has not been too splashed or if some bigger stone has hit it. In addition, it is worth following the manufacturer’s recommendations and checking under which hill should not drive using the engine only it is better to bring a board or push away with your foot. The electric longboard motors are fitted with interlocks that do not allow them to overload and if we want to go under a high hill, it can turn off. If we want our engine to serve us as long as possible, just do not check its capabilities and follow the recommendations of Majestic Boards for a 15% gradient for boards with one engine and for boards with two engines 25% tilt.
The material from which decks are made is 5 layers of bamboo wood and one layer of fiberglass. Bamboo wood is a very flexible material often used in the production of longboard tops due to the fact that while driving, it must withstand all overloads and the continuous load on them. In that case, we can not allow the deck to get wet and lie so wet, because it may cause delamination and it is much easier to break such a board. The second biggest enemy of our bamboo deck is the sun. If we drive on a sunny day, it is known that our board is safe, but we should avoid situations in which we leave the longboard in full sun and forget about it.
In order to achieve the best performance of our vehicle, we must ensure that the bearings in the wheels are always well lubricated. If you hear a disturbing sound, you can also remove the wheels from the trucks, take out the bearings, check if they have not got there, no particles of sand or dust and properly lubricate and put in place again. This is very important, because when the bearings get lost, you will not go any further, they will have to replace them. A good patent for the winter is also to remove the bearings from the wheels and put them in a small jar with grease and store them until the snow melts.
When driving on a longboard, depending on the position in which you drive and the way of braking, the wheels can wear differently. In a classic longboard, the wheels change from time to time, so that they wear out evenly, whereas when it comes to the electric longboard, it is also worth replacing the front with the back, because the wheels that fulfill the driving roles wear out in a different way than the others. Pay attention to this, so that you do not have to change the individual wheels so often, it’s much less likely to buy one set when the previous one is completely worn out.
